Who We Are:
Unity Children’s Home is a private nonprofit Residential treatment facility.
The facility is licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services for the care of children ages 5 through 17 years in accordance to the Consolidated Standards for 24-hours Child Care Facilities.
Unity was established in 1989, as a Therapeutic Foster Group Home. In 1993, Unity expanded to a Residential Treatment Facility with the capacity to house 24 children. In 1996, Unity received it’s license to operate as A Child Placing Agency. The facility’s primary source of referrals is from the Department of Protective and Regulatory Services. Residents placed with the agency are admitted based on a history of physical, sexual and emotional abuse as well as juvenile delinquency. Their family history is characterized by medical and physical neglect, abandonment, alcoholism, drug abuse, mental illness and lack of supervision.
Unity is committed to providing for children needing protection and that have been removed from their homes and families. Treatment is provided in a variety of modalities.
Unity respects the individual values and cultural differences of each child and strives to promote and develop lives so that the residents become healthy individuals within society.
The agency’s objectives are:
To assist residents in developing self-control as well as appropriate social skills.
To assess the individual needs of each resident, promote growth and address problem areas.
To assist the child in overall school performance providing tutoring as needed.
To enhance the residents emotional state through individual and group counseling weekly.
Unity is receptive to donations from individuals and organizations who support the goals of our agency.
